What’s the point?

Mary Magdalene looked into the empty tomb saying, “Where did they put my Lord?”

What if they never found him? What if Jesus never appeared to the 12, on the road to Emmaus, and the numerous other times?

If Jesus never resurrected…what is the point?

What is the point of trying to be a good person? What is the point of enduring suffering graciously? Why not just look out for me? To hell with everyone else.

Why have kids? They would just grow up in a crappy world anyway. Why fight to make a marriage work? Move on. Find someone to make you happy no matter who you might hurt along the way.

Why not just gorge yourself on chocolate or ice cream or whatever pleases you? Why not indulge in every passion no matter how deleterious it is if that is what you want to do?

That is the point.

We don’t have to live that way. Because Christ resurrected, we are free, free to do the right thing.
