3 Stages to Streamlining Your Biz and Life for Sustainable Prosperity with Ease
Many goal-oriented business owners I encounter, whether just starting or more established, fall into two camps:
- They either have good revenues, but less time and quality of life,
- or they enjoy a more relaxed, pleasant pace, but lack solid cash flow.
According to Bushar, “abundance” is the ability to do what you need when you need to do it.
You avoid the scarcity trap by discovering your personal sweet spot of “sustainable prosperity”.
Here are the stages to get you there:
STAGE #1: NAIL YOUR BUSINESS AND PERSONAL VISION IN DETAIL
Having an annual earning goal or generic business plan won’t cut it.
Dig deeper. Each individual has a unique idea of what their personal and professional ideal day looks and feels like.
I recommend dividing and defining your personal vision across these six areas:
- Health
- Wealth
- Personal Fulfillment
- Career
- Spirituality
- Relationships
Work environments vary, but you should be able to define key business focus areas that might look something like this:
- Business Plan / Business Strategy
- Sales and Marketing
- Operations – Maintain Activities
- Operations – Gain Activities
- Financial Plan, Project, Review
For each of these personal and business areas, a clear definition of where you want to end up and a few sentences of what that would look like on a daily basis creates the baseline from which you can STREAMLINE.
STAGE #2: ENGAGE IN THE TEDIOUS WORK TO MAKE YOUR REALITY FIT YOUR IDEALS.
If you are not already sustainably prosperous, it’s likely that the activities in all of the above personal and business areas won’t fit in a reasonable schedule. This is where the troubleshooting process begins.
- Schedule the time for your personal and professional activities.
- Time how long it takes for you or someone you delegate to complete the activities.
- Create systems to reduce the time or look for ways to eliminate tasks altogether.
- Continue to monitor and refine until you have the leanest model of the essential tasks that can be completed in the least time possible.
STAGE #3: TACKLE THE BOTTLENECKS ONE BY ONE BEING RESOURCEFUL RATHER THAN INITIALLY INCREASING COSTS THROUGH ADDITIONAL RESOURCES.
Themes will begin to emerge. You will notice a certain habit, if changed would positively affect multiple areas in your plan. For me, that involves the discipline of getting to bed and getting up slightly earlier than I do now.
Figure out your biggest pain area, identify the clog, discern a habit that would improve it, and focus on developing that habit.
Once that habit is in place, you are ready to tackle the next clog in the wheel.
Many are tempted to throw money at their problems. When the “fixer” doesn’t have the magic wand, after all, you can end up further in the financial hole with basically the same problems.
CONCLUSION
Business owners solve problems with innovative and effective solutions in what they do for their customers. In essence, the journey to a STREAMLINED and sustainable prosperous business and personal life is putting your attention on prioritizing solving that problem first.
