A Mother’s Rule of Life
Today’s warm spring weather combined with last month of school triggered daydreaming of being at Rockwood pool with my family. Excited about my first year with proficient swimmers all tall enough to relieve me of high alert lifeguard duty, I’m salivating about lying on a reclining sun chair resting and reading. Yipee!
As negotiating our summer schedule percolates I visualize how to balance swim team, walking the new puppy, family hangout time, friends, and work. The summer schedule starts coming together in my mind, which prompts me to create my summer Mother’s Rule.
Suggestions from “The Mother’s Rule of Life” by Holly Pierlot, help me live balance with correct priorities. I had been in the habit each change of season of revising my personal “rule of life”. But with so many unknowns, adding my coaching and information product business, I neglected doing it the last year.
It showed. Conflicting priorities, interrupted connection time with loved ones, and general preoccupation picked at my serenity. Encouraged by my past successes with my mother’s rule, I am excited and inspired to make this summer’s transition a good one.
My mother’s rule is the key to make sure what’s important gets in my schedule.
