Does Your Business Have the Right Blend of Naysayer and Dream Maker?

 In Blog, Business-Faith Congruence

As a mom business owner with limited precious time, promised desired business results in less time perks your ears.  You want business growth, but not at the expense of missing important family moments.

And as a Catholic mompreneur you may have stepped out in faith by starting and investing in your enterprise.  You want to trust the Holy Spirit’s promptings .

For your God-inspired businesses to flourish you need solid guidance.  You don’t need

  • To hear what you want to hear

  • Pie-in-the-sky platitudes, or

  • To be told that you can’t do it.

Not learning the nuance of being inspired to shoot for the stars while staying grounded in sound business principles, can lead you to disappointment.

Being both a naysayer AND a dream make paves your road to optimal business success.

Kim Flynn, mother of four and creator of Plug and Play Business System, tells it like it is regarding what works in your business.  Reading  her stuff may make you squirm.  While founding 5 businesses, Kim set up systems, allowing her to maintain them while working  3-5 hours per week.   Vanguard’s 22 International keynote speakers recruited Kim, who was in  good  company with  speakers like Stephen Covey.

Kim shoots it straight.

To be successful you must

  1. Work hard

  2. Work smart.

There’s no substitute.  It’s not sexy, but true.

Kim strongly advocates business education to accelerate the learning curve and discern which corners to cut.   She points out the 10,000-rule, which proposes that it takes about 10,000 hours to master just about anything.  She considers those business education hours.

Whether you complete those 10,000 hours in 10 years or five is your choice.  But there’s no way around it. Business growth takes time.

Don’t feel bad choosing to take the slower Mommy track if  that is your priority, but be realistic about  time necessary for business growth. Make your decisions accordingly.

You can decide to slow the learning  / experience pace, or be like Kim who lives the leveraged biz mom life style with an 8-people team supporting her and her business.  Be sure that you’ve thought about your choice,  it’s based on facts not fantasy,  and  it is in sync with God’s will for your life.
